What is the best reciprocating saw?

Joe Truini: A reciprocating saw is one of the most versatile power tools you can own. It can cut virtually any building material. But it's also great for trimming tree branches. Now you can use a standard reciprocating saw blade to cut tree branches, but you'll get much better results if you use.

Aug 17, Using a Reciprocating Saw to Cut Tree BranchesIn this video, Renos an electric saw to cut tree branches as fast as possible while being timed with a clock. H. Apr 27, Do not use your reciprocating saw to cut a tree or branch that is more than 12 inches in diameter. If you have a bigger tree than advised, then consider using a more appropriate tool like a chainsaw.

Best way to cut logs without a chainsaw.

Using a reciprocating saw on a large tree or branch will just lead to you sawing repeatedly. It will be tedious and time-consuming. You can cut tree limbs with a reciprocating saw – in fact, it’s one of the safest and fastest ways to prune a mature tree of some of its larger branches.

That said, a reciprocating saw will be able to prune a limb that’s 5 inches in diameter at the most. Any more than that and you may be better off with a small chainsaw to do the job. Reciprocating saws can also be used to cut smaller trees.

Then they even have a 40V tool line of mowers, chainsaws and other larger tools.

Demolition blades will also work for cutting branches and tree limbs, but for cutting into green lumber, a pruning blade will work better for your purposes. Pruning blades are also less likely to get caught in the tree, sparing you from a potentially dangerous kickback. The reason a reciprocating saw works so well for cutting tree roots is because the blades can get in the dirt and hit a rock unlike a chainsaw.

If the blade gets ruined, who cares, it is cheap and easily replaceable. The other big reason why this is my number one tool for this is because their are a thousand other uses for a reciprocating saw other than just cutting branches and roots. Essentially anything that needs to be cut by hand can be done with this saw.
